Sometimes train lines need a bit of TLC, and next month it’s the Lizzie line’s turn. Each weekend in February, stations east of Stratford will be closed for maintenance. The works being done aren’t particularly interesting – unless you’re a fan of ‘de-vegetation’ or ‘graffiti-removal’ – but they are essential.
Mark Walker, an engineer for Network Rail Anglia, said: ‘These works play an essential role to maintain the reliability and safety of our railway. Each improvement, inspection, survey, and maintenance task emphasise our commitment to passenger safety, and keeping our infrastructure in good condition.’

When exactly will the closures take place?
The works are planned for every weekend in February. This includes February 3/4, 10/11, 17/18, and 24/25.
Which stations will be closed?
All stops between Maryland and Shenfield will be affected by the closures. On top of that, there will be no services running between Paddington and Abbey Wood on Sunday February 18. Greater Anglia services running on these lines can also expect disruptions.
