When every major London Christmas market returns for 2025 – full list of markets and dates

From the South Bank to Leicester Square, these are the exact dates that the capital’s festival markets will reopen for the 2025 festive season

Halloween is out of the way, most Bonfire Night displays have taken place and November has begun – it’s officially time to get excited about Christmas in London.

For those who love getting immersed in all the city has to offer at Christmas time, there’s loads of markets to get you excited (and stocked with presents) for December 25. And no, we’re not just talking about Winter Wonderland. Christmas markets in the capital will start opening this very week, ready for you to get your festive shopping done nice and early. 

Here’s a roundup of when every Christmas market that has announced its opening date so far for this year, and when it opens.

When every London Christmas market opens for 2025

Christmas in Leicester Square

Tie in a visit to the towering pine tree in Trafalgar Square with a browse of nearby Leicester Square’s market. Each stall has seasonal treats, food and delicious drinks. The market is on from November 1 to January 4.

Opening times: 10am-10pm.

Southbank Centre Winter Market

Southbank Centre’s annual Christmas market on the Queen’s Walk is back from November 3 to January 4. Expect the usual cute alpine-themed huts selling tasty dishes and festive wares by the river.

Opening times: 11am-10pm Sunday to Thursday, 11am-11pm Friday and Saturday

Covent Garden Christmas Market

Beneath the West End pavilion’s gigantic signature Christmas bells will be stalls selling handmade crafts and artisan gifts. The festivities start on November 12 and wrap up on January 5.

Opening times: Mon-Sat 10am-8pm, Sun 11am-6pm.

Trafalgar Square Christmas Market

Set underneath the iconic Christmas tree imported from Norway, this cute market will run from November 9 until January 2

Opening times: 10am-10pm. 

Winter Wonderland

The ever-popular Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is not only perfect for families – there’s fairground rides, ice skating, and a Santa’s Grotto – but its got lots on store for adults too. There’s bars and Christmas markets that are good for last-minute shopping. This year you can buy premium gifts from the market’s new Luminarie Lane. Winter Wonderland will run from November 14 to January 1.

Opening times vary (check here) but are typically 10am-10pm Monday to Sunday

Winter By The River

The banks of the River Thames at London Bridge transform into glittering festive escape for all ages at this one of a kind market selling artisanal crafts, seasonal delicacies and great vibes. November 13 to January 4.

Opening times: 11am-10pm.

Kingston Christmas Market

Bavarian-style Kingston Christmas Market is like a portal to Germany, from its bratwurst and mulled wine to its Bavarian curling lanes. The market starts up on November 13 and ends on December 28 (though it’s closed on Christmas Day).

Opening times: Monday 10am-8pm, Tuesday and Wednesday 10am-9pm, Thursday to Saturday 10am-10pm, Sunday 10am-8pm.

Christmas at Leadenhall Market

Three pop-up markets will enliven Leadenhall’s Christmas displays this festive season: SoLo Craft Fair Christmas Market will happen on Nov 8 and Dec 13, and The Vintage Furniture and Flea Christmas Market on November 30.

Opening times: 12pm-5pm.

Greenwich Market at Christmas

On November 19 Greenwich will kick off its festive shopping season with a lantern parade and light switch-on. 

Opening times:10am to 6pm.

King’s Cross Christmas Market

Located under the West Handyside Canopy at Coal Drops Yard, this boutique-style market runs from November 27 to December 22.

Opening times: Tue-Wed 12pm-7pm, Thu-Fri 12pm-8pm, Sat-Sun, 11am-6pm.

Old Spitalfields Market

Spitalfields’ usual delights will be on show throughout the Christmas period, with added Christmas Shopping Lates – when shoppers can browse until 8pm while being serenaded by a gospel choir. The Christmas programme starts on November 30, and there are lates on December 4, 11 and 18.

Opening times: Friday to Wednesday, 8am to 6pm (8pm on ‘lates’ days).

Christmas at Borough Market

Foodie haven Borough Market turns Christmassy on December 1-31

Opening times: Mon-Fri 10am-5pm, Sat 9am-5pm, Sun 10am-4pm. Find all the exceptions here.

Camden Market

Over 1,000 traders at Camden’s artisan and street food market will get all Christmassy – complete with an Ice Grotto and Christmas tree installation – from December 6. The grotto installation is on until December 24.
