How does L.A.’s pizza scene stack up to New York’s? Put on pants with some give and get ready to tackle the age-old question, because next week you can stop by a pop-up from one of Brooklyn’s most beloved pie spots and decide for yourself. Acclaimed and worth-the-waits Brooklyn restaurant Roberta’s is bringing blistered-crust beauties to Hayden Wine Bar in Culver City’s Platform, where you’ll be able to find their signature wood-fired, personal-size pizzas starting at $12 a pop.

Running December 6 through 23, the Wednesday-to-Sunday residency marks a return for the Bushwick pizza shop, which popped up at Platform last year. Hayden—the development complex’s breezy, all-day wine bar and café—wasn’t open then, but it’s here this time around and will be offering by-the-glass wine pairings that complement the Roberta’s menu, with a focus on natural wines.

Expect to find the Rosso (tomato, garlic and oregano) for $12; the Margherita (tomato, mozzarella and basil) for $15; the Famous Original (tomato, mozzarella, parmigiano, caciocavallo, oregano and chili) for $15; the White Guy (mozzarella, ricotta, parmigiano, garlic and olive oil) for $15; the Bee Sting (tomato, mozzarella, soppressata, basil, chili and honey) for $17; and an L.A. pop-up special, the Normcore (heirloom tomato, cherry tomato, mozzarella, parmigiano, basil, garlic and white balsamic), for $19.

We’ve had a not-unwelcome spur of Italian restaurants open in L.A. this year, with newcomers like Pizzana, Cosa Buona and Felix upping our pizza game. So what can we expect from Roberta’s that could make our mouths water even more? Take a peek and see for yourself:

“We’re psyched about being back in L.A. and spending time with our friends on the West Coast,” Roberta’s co-owner and chef Carlo Mirarchi says in a news release. “We can’t wait to serve all the great people that came out to see us last year, and are excited to welcome any one who hasn’t dined with us before.”

The pop-up’s return is only fueling the fire of rumors that the Brooklyn pizza joint and gathering spot will open a West Coast outpost someday. Our queries on the subject—to both Roberta’s and Platform’s teams—went unanswered, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed. After all, no news is good news?

Roberta’s pops up at Hayden Wine Bar Wednesdays through Sundays, December 6 through 23, at Platform in Culver City from noon to 9pm.
