Friday

If you're looking for an all-day activity on Friday, splurge on a ticket to Taste. This symposium on the relationship between good design and food feature's speakers like Sqirl's Jessica Koslow and KCRW's Frances Anderton and Evan Kleiman.

Stop by the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA for the opening day of the LA Art Book Fair. This annual showcase brings together more than 250 international publishers for a free weekend of books, catalogues, monographs and zines.

Follow up your periodical perusing with a stop at Upstairs for LAABF After Hours. Ace Hotel is hosting a nightly after party for the book fair with free music, art and literary happenings.

Finish up the evening with heavy beats and sweaty bodies. Rhondavous: A Lover's Ball is taking all of the A Club Called Rhonda madness to the new nightclub Union with "a crew of consummate cupids to capture your hearts with the sounds of sensuality."

Saturday

Pedal out to the middle of Echo Park Lake on Saturday to visit the Floating Library. The project started by Minnesota-native Sarah Peters and presented by Machine Project is meant to spark both civic pride and creativity in the Eastside park.

Stake out a spot in Chinatown for the Golden Dragon Parade. The 117th (!!) annual tradition kicks off at Hill and Ord streets at 1pm with dragon dances and floats before making its way over to Broadway and Cesar Chavez.

Catch a matinee of An Act of God at the Ahmanson, where Sean Hayes stars as the Almighty, who, along with his angels, is answering any lingering questions people may have. The show is here in LA straight from a run on Broadway; make sure to grab discount tickets with the promo code TIMEOUTLA.

Just to the east, spend a very vulgar evening at the Luckman Fine Arts Complex for John Waters's This Filthy World: Dirtier & Flirtier. Check out the acclaimed filmmaker of Hairspray and Pink Flamingos in his one-night-only, monologue-style comedy show.

Relive all of the awkward romance and under-the-table drinking at Unique's annual Fake Prom. This year's Pretty in Pink-themed party includes an open bar, after-school snacks, DIY corsages and boutonnieres, and, of course, a prom photo shoot.

Sunday

Join the 26.2-mile club (or cheer from the sidewalk) today at the LA Marathon. This parade of physical endurance kicks off at Dodger Stadium and winds its way along Hollywood, Sunset, Santa Monica and San Vicente boulevards (keep that in mind if you're on the road) all the way to the ocean.

We probably don't have to remind you, but today is also Valentine's Day. You'll find plenty of romantic things to do for couples, plus ideas and events for singles, including the two below.

Skip the sappy romantic dinners and cut right to the chase at MiniBar's “Whip-its and Absinthe” Party. The Hollywood watering hole is offering a $50 tab for three drinks, three bites and a can of whipped cream (yup, those whip-its).

Afterward, hit up Beelman's Pub for the Tinder Ball. This Tinder-themed singles party is bringing a kissing booth, drink specials, sex toy raffles and a live date auction to the Downtown pub.

Monday

Enjoy your extra day off with a trip to the beach or at the Annenberg Community Beach House's Pop-Up Pool Day. The Santa Monica recreational center is taking advantage of the unseasonably warm weather with a pool day; passes will go on sale at 9am, walk-ups only.

Take a tour through six cake chambers filled with floor-to-ceiling cake sculptures, mirror mazes, a watercolor ice cream truck and more at Break Bread. The opening night for this free installation at Think Tank Gallery is already sold out, so we're hoping things will be a bit quieter today.

Wrap up the long weekend at the Virgil for its Monday night staple Hot Tub with Kurt and Kristen. In addition to the always hilarious duo of Kristen Schaal and Kurt Braunohler, tonight's installment of the oddball variety show features an appearance by Pete Holmes.
