Time Out says

The Koorie Heritage Trust's latest exhibition hands the reigns to Victoria's most exciting First Nation photographers

Historically, the stories and knowledge of First Nations people have been overlooked, ignored and manipulated. In Affirmation, a new photography exhibition at the Koorie Heritage Trust, those stories are put front and centre as Victorian First Nations artists reclaim the lens of history and how they are presented.

Affirmation brings together work from artists like Paola Balla (Wemba Wemba, Gunditjmara), Deanne Gilson (Wadawurrung), Tashara Roberts (Dja Dja Wurrung, Yorta Yorta, English and German) and Pierra Van Sparkes (Pibbulman) and was initially designed as part of mega photography event Photo 2021 (previously Photo 2020).

While you can't physically visit the Koorie Heritage Trust at the moment, you can explore Affirmation online. Head to the website to discover the exhibition through a virtual gallery, a Q and A with the artists, or a video tour led by Koorie Heritage Trust CEO Tom Mosby.
