South Melbourne's Golden Gate Hotel will be capping off Sundays with a roast with a difference. They are launching Melbourne’s first vegan roast, which means plant powered eaters can get involved with the Sunday pub ritual.

From noon you can get around a not-so-traditional roast spread with all the trimmings. A roulade-style protein and veggie-based centrepiece will be joined by seasonal veggies, crisp potatoes and vegan gravy. With the weather cooling down this accessible roast means full-time herbivores can join their meat-eating mates for a warming roast plate. The vegan roast costs $26 per person and is available at the Golden Gate Hotel every Sunday. It joins the regular Sunday meat roast, served family style with two meats rotating between pork, beef, lamb and ham. Plus, it wouldn't be a roast without a Yorkshire pudding to soak up all those delicious juices.

Add in a roaring fireplace and you've got the perfect way to see out a Sunday in the heart of South Melbourne.
