When the satirical cooking webseries The Katering Show premiered in 2014, it made instant stars of its performers and creators Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan. The pair's satire was razor sharp, taking on the futility and hypocrisies of foodie culture, and they were soon commissioned by the ABC for a second series and a new breakfast TV satire called Get Krack!n.
But while theirs might seem like an overnight success story, both have been working in comedy and TV for all of their careers, with McLennan an established stand-up performer and McCartney a writer for some of Australia's most popular comedies.
The Kates will look back over the last few years in this conversation (or konversation) with Benjamin Law, revealing the stories behind their hit comedies.
