Over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, Brunswick bar Howler will be celebrating a different kind of queen: ‘90s icon Winona Ryder.
Howler will be screening a bunch of films over the weekend to celebrate Ryder, including Reality Bites on Thursday June 7, Edward Scissorhands on Friday June 8 and a double feature of Mermaids and Heathers on Saturday June 9. Punters will be able to immerse themselves in arguably Ryder’s best films in the bar’s bean bag cinema and be able to celebrate with beer and wine specials (#winoforever).
The event will be curated by Melbourne creative collective Tastemakers – and it isn’t the first time these guys have swept Howler up in cinematic furore. Last year they celebrated the launch of new Twin Peaks episodes by turning the bar into David Lynch’s famous Black Lodge. They also threw an epic Back to the Future-themed party and a Bill Murray-thon back in January.
