With the voice of an Appalachian angel (despite having been born in New York), US songstress Gillian Welch will make you fall in love with Americana (if you're not already, following her blowing up of the scene with the O Brother, Where Art Thou soundtrack back in 2000). Singing with creative partner Dave Rawlings, Welch's tunes can rip the heart right out of your chest and sigh at the beauty of it all.
