Friends, if you find a place in your hearts and stomachs for even more tacos, give it up for Cornutopia!
It's more of a caravan than a roving truck, although lately they've been uprooting themselves from their regular perch at the Preston markets and trundling down to the Abbotsford open air cinema.
The tacos are a little more Tex than Mex, coming in a thick soft shell tortilla base with iceberg lettuce, spicy beans, a sour cream swirl and a fresh tomato salsa riven with coriander. It's a tasty combination that you can mix up by adding chicken and a lick of blasting-hot, house-made chipotle sauce. Chipotle peppers are smoked and dried spicy jalapenos, so the sauce has a deep smoky heat. Like brimstone.
If you're hitting the markets in the AM, get amongst the heuvos rancheros – that Mexican breakfast of spicy kidney beans and red peppers with a liquid yolked fried egg, all atop a soft flour tortilla with a scoop of cooling guacamole on the side.
Preston is quickly becoming a suburb of note and Cornutopia is a noteworthy part of the rising cool factor.
