Dance, acrobatics and sport come together in this new work by Australia’s boundary-breaking circus company Circa
Brisbane-based contemporary circus company Circa have developed a reputation in Australia and abroad for their emotionally expressive fusions of acrobatics, surreal aesthetics and music. Their new show, premiering as part of Asia TOPA, was developed collaboratively with expert practitioners of Mallakhamb, the Indian sport that combines gymnastics and wrestling with exceptional physical prowess.
The theme of the work is distance and unity, and it draws on cultural elements from Australia and India to create “one beautiful thing”.
