Oh live arts, how we missed thee. Theatre, comedy, music and more are making their highly anticipated return to the stage this summer, including to the stage at Geelong Arts Centre. To kick off the live arts revival, the arts centre is launching the Summer Sessions: two weeks of indoor and outdoor performances to welcome live audiences back.
The February program makes good use of the balmy evenings by hosting performances under a big top, as well as in Geelong Arts Centre's recently redeveloped Ryrie Street building. Performances on the cards include comedy shows from the likes of Tommy Little, Cal Wilson and Claire Hooper, Dilruk Jayasinha and Dave Thornton; musical tributes to Eva Cassidy, Louis Armstrong and Dolly Parton; and kids shows and workshops from the Trash Test Dummies and Fresh Circus Workshop.
Corrina Eccles, Ferne Millen and Vicki Hallett will also collaborate to create a new installation, Journey on Wadawarrung Country, which blends visual arts, dance and sound to capture the stories of the traditional custodians of Wadawurrung land (which stretches from the Great Dividing Range to the southern coast, west to Airey's Inlet and east to Werribee River).
