Time Out says

Grab your mates and celebrate this special milestone with a series of free or low-cost activities

The Centre for Adult Education (CAE) has been running language classes, short courses and book clubs for young adults and middle-age creatives since 1947. The 200 courses on offer satisfy the full spectrum of creative, practical and social pursuits with floristry, ceramics, creative writing and cooking currently the most popular. And the sociable hours – classes run during the day and evening, on both weekdays and weekends – mean everyone from city workers to visitors can join the fun.

So to celebrate 75 years of educating the wider Victorian community, the CAE will be hosting a swag of free or low-cost activities at its CBD campus (located at 253 Flinders Lane) on Thursday, September 15. And yes, everyone is invited.

Round up your friends and family and get ready to uncover the rich history and wonders of this city gem. Guided by a team of experienced tutors, artists and creators, you can enjoy everything from drawing workshops to gentle exercise classes, language lessons and photography walking tours. There will also be author talks, history discussions and you can even learn about mastering your camera or smartphone.

Be sure not to miss the highly anticipated book sale – for an inflation-busting gold coin donation (yes, you read that right) you can pick up a well-read or retired book that once belonged to a CAE book club.

But be careful, once you experience the excitement of the CAE's 75th celebrations, there's a good chance you'll need to return over and over to satisfy your curiosity for knowledge and friends. So if you’re keen to expand your skill set, meet like-minded people or discover a new hobby, this is your chance.
