Time Out says

It might feel like Christmas and New Year’s was mere moments ago but the fact remains that Australia Day is almost upon us. This year Dandenong are celebrating one of the best things about Australia with a massive, multicultural Australia Day party.

On Saturday, January 26 the City of Greater Dandenong will be hosting an Australia Day Festival from the gorgeous green grounds of Dandenong Park. Make your way to the park from 3pm to enjoy an afternoon of fun activities celebrating Australia in all of its diversity.

The free event features two stages of live entertainment as well as roving performers, markets stalls and rides for those looking for a thrill (rides cost between $2 and $6). There will also be free family activities: take your pick from arts and crafts, circus play, dance workshops, bubble activities and an animal farm.

Hungry bellies can fill up at the festival food court before enjoying one of the live performances. This year’s line-up includes acrobatics, cultural performances, Freeza performances and acclaimed children’s act the Kazoos. The highlight of the event will be the Australia Day fireworks at 9.25pm which will be accompanied with tunes from the Stereo Stars Feature Band.

Dandenong’s Australia Day Festival goes from 3pm until 9.30pm on Saturday, January 26. Entry is free and alcohol and smoking is not permitted.
