The thought of being singled out by a comedian at a gig would have once terrified us, but honestly these days we'd welcome the human interaction. While live comedy and music gigs have managed to cling on in this wild world we're living in, there has been a distinct lack of interaction between audience and performer.
Inside Sets is a new gig series aiming to revive the lost art (¯\_(ツ)_/¯) of audience participation by hosting music and comedy shows that you can engage with. The series is curated and hosted by radio presenter and musician (he's one half of Koolism) Hau Latukefu who will be joined by several top artists and comedians from August 15.
Each night features a music show and comedy gig, which you pay for separately. The first Inside Sets event will feature Papua New Guinea-born, Sydney-based singer-songwriter Ngaiire alongside multi-instrumentalist Milan Ring, plus TV host Rove McManus, Lizzy Hoo, Dave Woodhead, Bec Charlwood and Tom Walker.
Then on August 20, Inside Sets will host the multi-talented hip hop star and Bad Apples label head Briggs, who's expected to play both new and well-loved tunes. The night's comedy gig will also feature actor and comedian Tahir plus Alex Jae, Rose Callaghan, Lauren Bonner and musical comedy duo The Stevenson Experience.
Finally, on August 22, you'll hear from tunes from Kobie Dee and Nooky, plus comedians Matt Okine, Gen Fricker, Demi Lardner and Luke Heggie.
Unlike your regular livestream events, Inside Sets is promising to allow audiences to express how they're enjoying the gig, and allowing the artist to see it in a two-way interaction. Gigs launch August 15 and tickets start at $15.
