With gyms being closed yet again in Melbourne, we've compiled these handy online workout classes and apps you can access from home. Many of them are free and exercise is great for the heart and the mind, so scroll down and get ready to sweat from the comfort of your living room.

Here are even more great things to do at home right now.

Online exercise classes

Studios

Little Mandarin

This yoga and Pilates studio in Burwood Brickworks is currently offering live stream yoga alignment sessions on their website. You can purchase a single day pass, a seven-day pass and a ten-session pass. Check it out here.

Energia Studios

Dance and fitness meet at Energia Studios. The team is offering a series of online classes in salsa, bachata and mambo fundamentals that you can watch in real-time or at your convenience through video playbacks. The classes are $15 for 45 minutes and $20 for an hour, and you can check out what the classes are on offer here

Kaya Health Clubs

Pilates and yoga are Kaya's bread and butter, but with its two Melbourne gyms now closed, the team has decided to introduce Kaya at Home, a library of free online workouts.

Chunky Move

Dance studio Chunky Move collaborated with videographers Coco and Maximilian to create gorgeous online guided movement classes that you can found on its website. Each video follows a dancer in a beautiful Melbourne setting and you're encouraged to follow along with their movements.

Crunch Fitness

Crunch is a chain of gyms that has made its classes available online through its members portal. From boot camps to dance cardio, each class comes with the same high-energy instructors whose enthusiasm regulars know and love.

Barre Body Online

This barre studio has an online library chock-a-block with workouts to get you pulsing and grand plié-ing into shape. You can do it at home, and you can now get your first two weeks free. All you need is a mat.

T Form

Boutique Pilates studio T Form is offering guided programs that you can do anytime and anywhere. The first three days are free and afterwards, a three-month plan is $49 a month and includes a free equipment pack. Head to the T Form at-home page for more information.

Life Hub

Aussie gym collective Life Hub is now doing recurring free online workouts – yes, free! Some of them don't even require equipment or just utilise things you'd have around the house, like a chair. They're available on the Life Hub Instagram page and are fine for people of all fitness levels. You can check it out here.

Melbourne Djembe

Ever wanted to try African dance classes? This studio is now running classes via Zoom where you can try all-ages dance classes or even beginner live drumming classes. You can enrol in a five-week course for $75 or try out a single class for $20. Find out more info here.

Apps

Keep it Cleaner, app store

If you've got a ton of fitness and mindfulness apps rattling around on your phone, tidy up by switching over to KIC. In the app, you'll find hundreds of workout sessions, delicious meal plans, a 12-week running program, guided meditations and inspirational blog posts and advice. A monthly subscription is just under $20 a month, and you can sign up here

Centr, app store

Byron Bay local, extremely fit human and literal superhero Chris Hemsworth is making his fitness app, Centr, available to all new users totally free for a seven-day trial period. The app includes access to HIIT, boxing, yoga, strength training, Pilates, and MMA programs as well as a meal plan that is dietician-approved and auto-generates shopping lists.

After your trial ends, you can get a one-year subscription for $10 per month.

Nike

The Nike Training Club and Nike Running Club apps are both free and include a range of workouts, training plans, tips and guidance from sports stars and celebrated trainers. In light of the latest lockdown, Nike has created four new training plans to help you prepare for the Nike Melbourne Marathon in October.

Aaptiv, app store

You can choose audio or video cardio and strength workouts and filter by intensity, length and type of music. Intimidated by the prospect of a long workout? No stress, Aaptiv has plenty that are ten minutes or less. Want to train for a marathon? Aaptiv has programs for that, too. There is meditation, stretching and sleep session for chiller vibes.
