Time Out says

It’s hard to believe but we’ve almost done another lap around the sun. New Year’s Eve is fast approaching and this year the City of Greater Dandenong is making sure it’s one to remember.

The place to be come December 31 if you're in Dandenong will be Harmony Square, with a stack of performers, rides, musicians, and family activities taking over the area. This will be a multicultural celebration with acts like Wadaiko Drummers, Bollydazzlers and the Vietcharm Dancers already signed up to perform.

No New Year’s Eve party is complete without some tunes and the Harmony Square event has some banging artists lined up. Dance your way into 2019 with some help from Indigenous singer, dancer and musician Mitch Tambo. If you’ve heard his songs on Triple J Unearthed you’ll know Tambo is the real deal fusing old-school funk beats with Yidaki and rap. He’ll be joined by artists like Pulse (a J-Pop dance group), Chunky Jam Band and DJ Mickey Space.

For those looking for a thrill, there will be rides available ($2-$6 per ride) plus some hair-raising antics from aerial artist Aleisha Manion and a fire show. All that excitement is bound to work up an appetite so make sure you grab something delicious from one of the food stalls. New Year’s Eve in Harmony Square is an alcohol-free event so leave your drinks at home (and get something non-alcoholic there!).

The celebrations will wrap up at 9.25pm with a dazzling fireworks display. That gives you enough time to get the kids to bed or head off to your next party should you wish.

Entry to New Year’s Eve in Harmony Square is free.
