Lighting installations, open fires, hot cider and 30 food stalls will ignite your winter Wednesday nights
The annual Queen Victoria Winter Night Market is back this winter, making Melbourne's cold months more bearable with a killer line-up of food, design stalls and performances. This time around, the market has commissioned lighting concept company John Fish to design three installations that will play with the ideas of warmth, welcome and intrigue; think hazy walls of red smoke, glowing neon lights and bright white beams illuminating the entire main food hall.
Of course, the Winter Night Market is best enjoyed with a warming drink in hand; this year, you can sip mulled wine or hot cider by an open fire. Food-wise, you can expect street food from more than 30 vendors – stay tuned for more information shortly.
In addition to 50 designer stalls, the market will host musicians, roving performers, fortune tellers and even a silent disco.
The Winter Night Market is held on the corner of Queen and Therry Streets, and runs from 5-10pm. Visit the 'Dates and Times' tab for more details.
