Sometimes simple ideas are the most powerful. For instance, taking three items of trash with you every time you leave the beach. It’s a small individual action that can have a powerful cumulative effect. Over the last ten years, the Take 3 for the Sea campaign has mobilised people in 129 countries to remove 10 million pieces of garbage from the environment.
So how did a grassroots project become a global sustainability movement? Find out from the co-founder of the Take 3 for the Sea movement Tim Silverwood, who will be giving a talk at the Mercedes me store on Tuesday August 13. He’ll share his experiences about establishing a non-profit organisation, sparking environmental activism, and educating 350,000 school students around Australia about the plight of our waterways.
Come by for what promises to be an inspiring chat on a topic where good-news stories are unfortunately all too rare. Tickets are $10 and include a free drink on arrival, snacks by St. Ali, and a good dose of the warm fuzzies.
