As Montreal gets ready for Grand Prix weekend, Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a smog warning for the city as wildfire smoke once again cloaks Montreal.

According to the province's forest fire prevention agency (SOPFEU), 26 of the 125 fires burning in Quebec remain out of control which is causing noticeably poor air quality in the city.

Environment Canada issued a warning that high concentrations of fine particulate matter due to the forest fires in Quebec will result in poor air quality.

The warning goes on to explain that asthmatic children and people with respiratory ailments or heart disease are especially vulnerable to smog, therefore it is recommended that these individuals avoid intense physical activity outdoors until the warning is lifted.

How long will the smog warning last?

The next scheduled air quality forecast will be issued at 5:00 p.m. EDT.
