Visit with Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends when Liberty Science Center opens its new children’s exhibit September 23. Thomas & Friends: Explore the Rails! transforms the museum's fourth floor into the Island of Sodor with STEM-based activities for kids ages 2 to 8.

Children will travel through the TV series’ landmarks including Knapford Station and Sodor Steamworks. Problem-solving activities will give young minds a workout as they design and test ways to arrange cargo onto the train car in the Loading Zone, practice telling time at Tick Tock, Fix the Clock, navigate trains through various tracks at the Train Table, remove and replace train pieces at Every Part Has a Purpose and learn about steam energy with Thomas’ best friend Percy.

The star of the show is a Thomas model that little ones will race to climb into. Once inside, they’ll explore how an engine works and play with tools that test their hand-eye coordination. While kids are immersed in play, they’ll also gain important science, technology, engineering and math skills that will help them chug along in class once they’re back in school.

Thomas & Friends: Explore the Rails! will be on exhibit September 23 through May 13, 2018 and is included with general admission to the Liberty Science Center.
