Booking a babysitter is a cinch with this new mobile app

NYC parents who wish they could find a qualified babysitter just as easily as they can book an Uber will want to download Helpr. The mobile app places a list of childcare providers who are ready to take care of tots on demand at parents' fingertips. Now when a spontaneous date night comes around, families won’t have to stress about finding a babysitter at the last minute.

The Los Angeles-based company is currently operating out of California, but will expand to New York by the end of the year. Parents can book as soon as same-day services or as far as 90 days in advance. All babysitters are fully screened with an in-person interview, background checks, professional childcare reference checks, CPR certification and even a social media review.

Parents are introduced to potential babysitters via photo, video and a profile page, but if they want to test the waters first, Helpr suggests booking an extra 15 minutes before heading out the door or booking someone for an interview or trial run while remaining in the home.

Rates start at $25 per hour, but vary by location, number of children being cared for and the amount of notice given. Helpr also works with companies that subsidize childcare for its employees. And if you have a big event in the works, Helpr could be a great way to book a couple babysitters to watch over the little ones while the grownups mingle amongst themselves.

Finding a reliable and amazing babysitter is on the list of essentials for any parent looking to balance work, life and kids so browse through our babysitters guide for families in NYC and babysitter services in NYC, or prepare your older children to look after younger siblings by signing them up for babysitting classes for kids.
