Believe it or not, now's the time to start thinking about the 2019 school year. (There's no time to waste in NYC!)

If you're interested in NYC's fall 2019 Gifted & Talented programs for students in kindergarten to third grade, next month is go time. Friday, Nov 9 is the deadline to register little ones for the G&T tests—a combination of pictorial and verbal questions—which will be administered in January, according to the NYC Department of Education. Moms and dads are able to register kiddos online or in person at a family welcome center

Though the programs are varied, the curriculum aims to provide participants with enrichment opportunities and specialized instruction. Everyone is welcome to apply, and the Department of Education encourages English Language Learners and students with disabilities to consider the program. All that's required before signing up is that students are NYC residents and entering kindergarten through third grade beginning next fall.

If you and your family are curious if this is an appropriate fit for your children—or if you have questions about the application process—visit the Department of Education's Gifted & Talented website or call 718-935-2009. There's still a lot to look forward to this year, so have a look at the 2018-2019 school calendar here. Best of luck to the little test takers!
