Cupcake Wars judge Candace Nelson opened her first bakery in Beverly Hills in 2005, quickly winning a devout following, before expanding to nine other cities. This location, her first in New York City, offers 50 different flavors, from chai latte to lemon coconut. Each frosted confection is crowned with the store's signature sugar dot.
If you’re seeking piles of delicious cupcakes, check out Butter Lane—you’re in for a treat. You can order online or in person (a box of two-dozen is $48, and a dozen box of specialty cupcakes is $51)—plus, just 24 hours’ notice is required (though they’d probably love you for placing your order a bit earlier). Choose from delicious treats like Raspberry on Vanilla, Caramel on Chocolate and the “Elvis” (Peanut Butter on Banana).

Sisters Sophie LaMontagne and Katherine Kallinis, the stars of TLC's DC Cupcakes, debut a pink-swathed bakeshop and Illy coffee bar in Soho. Eighteen flavors, made with pedigreed ingredients like Valrhona chocolate and Madagascar bourbon vanilla, rotate on a weekly basis. LaMontagne and Kallinis nod to their adopted city with the NY Dozen box, which highlights a few new cupcakes (apple crumble, New York cheesecake, black-and-white cookie) decorated with yellow taxi cab and "I Love NY" fondants.
