Brooklyn Robot Foundry

The lowdown: Want to take your young Brooklynite’s party to the next level? Easy: Just add robots. The Brooklyn Robot Foundry (which is no longer limited to the Borough of Kings—a Tribeca outpost opened in March!) lets tykes build real robots, for the party of every future engineer’s wildest dreams.

What’s included: With the Silver party, younger kids (ages 4 to 6) start by building parachuting robots that they’ll drop into a wind tunnel. Parents provide the food; the Foundry provides the lessons in circuit boards and concepts including lift and drag. Older kids (ages 5 to 14) can opt for the Gold party, in which they’ll create moving electronic robots while learning all about electrical engineering. Upgrade to the Platinum party (ages 5 to 14) and Brooklyn Robot Foundry will take care of the R.S.V.P.’s, food, decorations and a cookie cake adorned with a light-up robot, made possible by conductive frosting and an edible circuit! Partygoers  design and build their own custom robots, and go home with goody bags filled with a robotic toy and a squishy circuit kit (which contains special conductive and insulating doughs). Each party last for an hour and a half.

“You get to make robots but they can’t be electric ’cause you could get electrocuted.”

—Philip, 6, Park Slope
