Martin Luther King Jr. Day, for kids in NYC, means celebrating one of the greatest civil rights leaders our country has ever encountered.

Through crafts, story times and performances, MLK's memory is kept alive, and little ones learn about his important messages on peace and equality. If you're searching for things to do with kids this weekend, head to CMOM, the New-York Historical Society and other venues across the city that are honoring his legacy.

Be sure to also explore our favorite winter activities for kids and indoor activities for kids while you're venturing out on this three-day weekend.

Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at MCNY

The Museum of the City of New York invites patrons on MLK Day (11am–2pm) to visit the "Activist New York" exhibit. Using it as inspiration, museum-goers will then create a protest sign related to a cause that speaks to them. Free with museum admission. Learn more here

MLK Day of Service

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr.'s contributions to the civil rights movement, NYC Parks is offering a chance for residents to give back. MLK Day of Service at venues across the city allow volunteers to give back and clean up their local neighborhood spots. Find locations participating here.
