Actors vote on the 100 best movies of all time

The world’s leading actors pick the best movies of all time, including comedies, thrillers, blockbusters and classics

From left: Alona Tal, Cillian Murphy, Celia Imrie, Anthony Mackie

How did we choose the 100 best movies of all time? We asked the actors themselves—performers of great renown and promising stature alike. Oscar winner Juliette Binoche (The English Patient) contributed a ballot, as did a host of Tony winning stage stars like Betty Buckley, Joanna Gleason and BD Wong. We turned to the cutting edge of motion-capture acting and got a ballot from Gollum himself, Andy Serkis. We asked two former child stars of preternatural talent—The Sixth Sense’s Haley Joel Osment and My Girl’s Anna Chlumsky—for their opinions. And we tapped into a deep pool of comic talent: Bill Hader, Stephen Merchant and Colin Quinn all provided input, among dozens more contributors. The result is a list designed to stand up and take a bow.

RECOMMENDED: Our list of the 100 best movies of all time
