New Yorkers are notoriously opinionated about where you should actually spend your time in this city. But if you’ve ever wondered which spots people are quietly filing away for a future visit, Yelp has been keeping tabs—and its latest list is basically one giant NYC bucket list.
Yelp just released its “50 Most Saved NYC Attractions,” ranking the places that users have saved most across all five boroughs. The company looked at businesses in attraction-related categories and ranked them using factors including total saves and review ratings. (It also deliberately included 10 businesses from each borough, so Manhattan doesn’t get to hog the entire thing.)
Still, that borough dominates the very top: Chelsea Market comes in at No. 1, followed by the High Line, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art. Other Manhattan picks include Aire Ancient Baths, Top of the Rock, Smalls Jazz Club, Strand Bookstore, Kinokuniya and the American Museum of Natural History.
Things get more interesting once you venture beyond the usual first-trip-to-New-York itinerary. Brooklyn Bowl lands at No. 11, followed by the Brooklyn Bridge and Nitehawk Cinema, while Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Union Hall, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Heights Promenade and the New York Transit Museum all make appearances farther down the ranking.
In Queens, things get a bit more chaotic—albeit in a good way: the Museum of the Moving Image and MoMA PS1 are joined by Gantry Plaza State Park, the Noguchi Museum and New York Hall of Science, but also Queens County Farm Museum, Crocheron Park and Queens Archery. There’s also Socrates Sculpture Park, for anyone whose ideal afternoon involves contemplating giant art outdoors.
The Bronx, meanwhile, brings out big guns like New York Botanical Garden, Bronx Zoo and Yankee Stadium, plus less obvious entries including the Bronx Museum of the Arts, Van Cortlandt Park and the New Fulton Fish Market. The Staten Island Ferry ranks No. 27 overall, while the New York Chinese Scholar’s Garden, Fort Wadsworth, Staten Island Zoo and Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art also make the cut. The Greenbelt Conservancy rounds out the entire list at No. 50.
The takeaway? Your next great NYC outing might be Chelsea Market. It might also involve archery, wholesale fish or a trip to a Tibetan art museum on Staten Island. Either way, consider your weekend plans sorted.
