Long before every other bar in the city would claim to be one of the best speakeasies in NYC, there was Angel’s Share leading the way.
To get there, you’d climb a steep set of stairs to a Japanese restaurant in the heart of the East Village. Then you’d go through another door before waiting to be seated in a dimly-lit room, where bartenders concocted some of the most thirst-quenching cocktails in the city. In fact, this true speakeasy is one of the best New York bars. Period.
At Time Out Market, however, you don’t have to navigate a back alley or know a secret password to enjoy a cocktail from Angel’s Share. Takuma Watanabe has created a signature drink for called the See-Saw. Just belly up to one of our bars, including one of the best rooftop bars in the city with stunning views.
It’s a jazz reference (in this case, a cut by the Bill Evans Trio) in a glass. Watanabe mixes Brooklyn Gin, shiso syrup, lime and club soda for a blended beauty we can’t get enough of—especially for summer.
