Never believe anything on social media on April 1, they say – and we didn't. Although we had hoped for some of it to be true, the pranks and gags by brands in Singapore were plenty. We had our share of Mala, laksa and bubble tea things, some questionable and some honestly delicious-sounding. Here's a round-up of things that made us laugh and cringe.

RECOMMENDED: The best Mala snacks in Singapore and unique local snacks to try in Singapore

Durex

If you're thinking of spicing up your love life, Durex took it quite literally on April Fool's Day. Cashing in on the craze in Singapore, Durex announced their hottest product yet, the fish skin condom in Mala flavour. Commenters had a field day making jokes about things getting hot (and numbing) down there and more.

Nex

Even neighbourhood mall Nex got into the April Fool's fun. Playing on Ariana Grande's popular hit thank u, next, the pranksters at Nex made a bogus poster announcing the popstar's performance at the Serangoon mall. Good one, Nex.

Ice Mountain

More Mala goodness, best served chilled. Bottled water Ice Mountain decided to get a little cheeky as well and 'launched' its latest product, Mala hotpot sparkling water. Honestly, we're a little disappointed it's not a real thing...

Sunshine Bakeries

Will Singaporeans ever get tired of bubble tea? Probably never. Which was why when Sunshine Bakeries fooled the lot of us (as in, the whole nation) about their new Bubble Milk Tea white bread, some were disappointed that it was only a prank. To be honest, this campaign is probably the weakest of the lot, given that there is already bubble milk tea toast and croissant available out there.

NutriSoy

If you've always wanted to bottle really good laksa broth to drink it for later, NutriSoy teased us with its latest laksa-flavoured fresh soy milk that packs four times more calcium than laksa. Sounds delicious to us.

Singapore Tourism Board

The upcoming project by the Singapore Tourism Board, Hawkerland sounds just like heaven to us. It may be a little internet prank but one can fantasise about riding in Kaya Coasters, sitting in a Kueh-ris Wheel and sliding down into a warm and rich laksa pool.

Deliveroo

Crust haters will probably get a kick out of this prank. For its April 1 gag Deliveroo announced to all its 'crustomers' all pizza crust options are to be removed from the app, due to overwhelming anti-crust feedback. Just eat your bread, haters.
