Because you've been very good this year the universe is giving you an early Christmas present in the form of a giant soup dumpling. It is seven-times the normal size of a xiao long bao. Sydney's appetite for those silky soft wrappers encasing tender pork and prawn mince, ginger and a rich, savoury soup knows no bounds, which is why the team at Din Tai Fung have decided we deserve the mother of all dumplings.

You can order this gargantuan snack from Tue Nov 1 from Din Tai Fung World Square, Central Park, Westfield Chatswood and Westfield Miranda in Sydney and the Melbourne venue at Emporium, and it even comes with a straw so that you don't wind up creating some sort of soup tsunami when you try to eat it.

It'll cost $8.90 a pop and it's only going to be available for a month so if you've always dreamt of a comically large version of your favourite hot soup explosion, strike while the dumpling is hot.

Need a dumpling hit ASAP? Head to one of Sydney's best yum cha joints.
