Time Out says

Dance with Midnight Oil under the desert sky and join a Nutbush world record attempt at this insane Outback festival

If you’ve ever wanted to dance along to Midnight Oil live beneath the stars on a red desert plain in the Australian Outback – now’s your bloody chance. The Mundi Mundi Bash have just announced that national treasure, Midnight Oil will be joining (other national treasures) Jimmy Barnes, Missy Higgins, Kasey Chambers, Daryl Braithwaite and Jon Stevens amongst many more. The three-day Outback music festival set to hit the Mundi Mundi Plains outside of Broken Hill from August 18 to August 20 this year.

(And spoiler: this could be your last chance to see Midnight Oil on home soil, with Mundi Mundi being part of their very last international tour leg – like ever. Peter Garret, we’re coming for you.)

Touted as Outback NSW's biggest-ever event, this humongous party celebrating Aussie music, land and spirit will unfold on the famously gorgeous Mundi Mundi plains, the exact place where Midnight Oil’s famed ‘Beds are Burning’ video clip was filmed, and where the Mad Max movie franchise has been repeatedly shot. Along with being obviously very cinematic, this red-dirt, big-sky heaven is also going to be the dancing floor for a Nutbush City Limits World Record dance attempt, as well as a Mad Max dress-up World Record attempt, with all proceeds going to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, the only lifeline for those living on remote Outback Stations.

On top of the classic Aussie tunes and Outback hits, the Mundi Mundi Bash will also be putting on a whole bunch of colourful daytime activities. You can expect to indulge in a bit of daily morning group yoga, dunny door painting, a dog fashion show, the odd scenic helicopter flight, desert camel rides, and the ‘Mundi Undi’ charity run. Overall, it looks a good time.

The Bash is accessible by road, as well as scheduled and chartered flights, bus tours and train transport, all coming from Broken Hill. Booze is not going to be sold, but all ticket-holders are allowed to bring their own food and alcohol into the festival, and you're also able to buy a variety of food and non-alcoholic bevs from vendors on the ground.

Family and dog-friendly, kids aged 11 and under can come in for free, while adult tickets range from early entry prices of $123.05 to $629 for four days camping and festival access.
