Shopping enthusiasts of Sydney’s North Shore, we’ve got good news. After 18 months behind the hoarding, Chatswood Chase is back in a big way – with phase one of its site-wide redevelopment now open to the public.
Designed by Make Architects and Webber, with interiors from Hegi Design Studio, the $625 million redevelopment has been a staggered, 18-month project by Vicinity Centres, the retail giant behind Melbourne’s Chadstone, and Sydney’s Queen Victoria Building. The transformation introduces a lineup of more than 60 new and returning retailers, including a huge David Jones flagship, the country’s first Armani Exchange, homegrown icons like MECCA, Zimmermann, Rebecca Vallance and R.M. Williams, and global names Ralph Lauren, Coach, and BOSS.
With the Ground Floor and Level 2 now open to the public, the new-look Chase blends high-end retail with community-driven design. Although its postcode has long attracted Sydney’s most affluent shoppers (with average incomes in the area a cool 73 per cent above the national average), this next chapter is about more than luxury – with Amy Wotton, Vicinity’s General Manager of Brand and Marketing, describing the project’s mission “to redefine retail as a destination for lifestyle, culture, and community.”

To mark its return, Chatswood Chase is rolling out a stacked calendar of events, performances and exclusive activations. Opening weekend kicks off with a special evening performance by musician Budjerah, alongside complimentary treats and giveaways throughout the centre – from matcha at Armani Exchange to floral bouquets at R.M. Williams. In a nod to its focus on elevating innovative creatives, the centre has partnered with global designer Tina Bobbe, known for her digital-meets-physical installations, to create a series of limited-edition gifts available exclusively throughout the opening month. Expect new drops each week, alongside striking in-centre art inspired by her work.
This October opening follows the relaunch of Chatswood Chase’s Lower Ground food and hospitality precinct in late 2024, with Phase 3 of the redevelopment – including the much-anticipated Level 1 – set for completion in April 2026. That final stage promises to introduce a dedicated luxury fashion precinct featuring LVMH houses and global designer brands.
With doors now open, 500,000 shoppers are expected to visit over the opening weekend. Keen to get amongst it? You can learn more over here.
