For a long time, the Italian triumverate of Berta, Vini and 121BC were hot spots for Sydney's dining scene. 121BC and Vini closed last year, with 121BC transforming into Wyno, a wine bar by the Porteno team.

Now the other shoe has fallen, with news that Berta is closing its doors after a final Saturday night service this weekend. It's always sad when Sydney loses a restaurant, especially one that has featured the likes of O Tama Carey and Chui Lee Luk in the kitchen.

The final menu for the restaurant's farewell tour will feature oysters with rhubarb, white kim chi pickled onions, Australian caviar, and cauliflower fritti for starters. There'll be smoked eel pea pie; ricotta with beetroot, plum and rosemary; chicken liver pate; and tagliatelli with broccoli, pea, rocket and pangrattato. Add that to fish, eggplant, hanger steak and pork neck on the mains menu, followed by pavlova, pie, panna cotta and torta for dessert and you have quite the farewell feast on your hands.

If you want one more night with Berta, you can book a table online, or call 9264 6133.

Need back-up pasta places? These are Sydney's best Italian restaurants.
