Superstar Ben Folds joins pop-up outdoor stage Sunset Piazza's packed line-up

Get geared up for pop, cabaret, comedy, hip-hop, indie rock and opera shows

The all-star wow factor of pop-up Cathedral Square stage Sunset Piazza just gets better and better. Ben Folds, Kate Miller-Heidke, Josh Pyke and Eddie Perfect are all adding their sweet summer vibes to this eclectic mix of these incredible gigs playing out in the shadow of stunning St Mary’s Cathedral.

Curated by incoming Sydney Festival artistic director Olivia Ansell and programmer Chris Twite, the Italo-themed summer pop-up stage has also added Casey Donovan and Trevor Ashley performing alongside the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Choir, which is perfect timing for queer Christmas aka Mardi Gras.

The series runs until March 21, with other must-see additions to the line-up including First Nations rapper Ziggy Ramo, the blissful melodies of Ruby Fields and guitar-strumming Pete Murray.

They bolster a brilliant mix of pop, cabaret, hip-hop, indie rock and opera, that also includes stand up from comedians including Wil Anderson, Danielle Walker, The Umbilical Brothers, Akmal, Lizzy Hoo and Tahir. Still to come, you can see singer-songwriter Ben Lee ( ‘Catch My Disease’ will have a whole new ring to it), and queer party starters Heaps Gay will als put on a cracking Live N’ Queer showcase hosted by Jordan RaskopoulosNic KellySharon Manhattan and Felicia Foxx.

This weekend, Sneaky Sound System will storm the join on Saturday night, followed by The Best of Opera smoothing out your Sunday with soaring sopranos.
