When beloved vegan bakery Miss Sina shut up shop in Marrickville, its plant-based followers were bereft. From where would they get their vegan cinnamon bun fix? Thankfully, Miss Sina has found a new home in Dulwich Hill, opening its doors on Marrickville Road in early June.
The bakery is the brainchild of Sina Klug and her husband Jacques Dumont, who also created the gluten-free and vegan Nutie Donuts (now closed). Miss Sina was born from Sina’s desire to create exceptional vegan pastries – yes, everything here is 100 per cent plant-based. Not that you’d even realise after scoffing down a pastry or pie.
Expect handcrafted cinnamon buns, freshly baked bagels, artisan pastries, gourmet donuts, celebration cakes and all-day brunch, with the much-loved banana pudding and Nutie-style donuts still making an appearance.
And there’s a particularly delicious reason to visit for the last few days of August. Inspired by Dulwich Hill’s strong Greek community, Miss Sina has launched a Greek-inspired menu. Think baklava donuts, bougatsa danishes, portokalopita, prasopita pies and freddo cappuccinos, all given that signature Miss Sina twist.
Grab a coffee from fellow Inner West business Blackmarket Coffee Roasters, settle in for brunch or simply watch the pastry chefs at work in the open kitchen. With community dinners, book clubs and other events on the horizon, Miss Sina is shaping up to become a delicious new addition to the Dulwich Hill neighbourhood.
