The 32-storey tower will bring new homes, shops and foodie outlets to the heart of Chatswood – here's what we know so far

Last year, the doors opened at the $625 million redeveloped Chatswood Chase, and it’s not the only mega development popping up in the area. This month, a mammoth $1.2 billion+ redevelopment proposal for the long-standing Mandarin Centre at Chatswood’s 61-65 Albert Avenue has officially been lodged, signaling a bold new chapter for the North Shore precinct.
Heralded as one of the most significant private investments in Chatswood in decades, the plan reimagines the site as a mixed-use, transit-oriented hub, delivering 325 new apartments across 32 storeys, a vibrant retail podium, and public domain upgrades, all within a leisurely stroll of the train and metro interchange. Notably, 5 per cent of the new homes are earmarked as permanently affordable, while the residential mix spans one- to four-bedroom layouts designed to cater to a range of family sizes and household types.
According to the team, the development promises more than just homes. A four-storey retail podium will house foodie outlets, shops and health hubs, and residents will have access to high-end amenities ranging from wellness spaces to co-working areas, private dining rooms and expansive rooftop gardens (ft outdoor fitness zones).
Eduard Litver, Director of the Mandarin Centre, noted that the proposal marks a pivotal moment for a site that has long anchored Chatswood. “This is a carefully considered design that will contribute meaningfully to Chatswood’s future as a major residential and employment precinct.”
Metis Group has spearheaded the lodgement, teaming up with Capitel Group, planning firm Urbis, and globally renowned architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) – the minds behind Dubai’s Burj Khalifa and New York’s One World Trade Centre.
If approved, construction is slated to kick off in Q2 2027. You can stay up-to-date on the project over here.
