Time Out says

Allow a drag queen to take you on a tour of the Art Gallery of NSW

Settle in for a night at the museum that you won’t soon forget, as the locked-down Art Gallery of New South Wales puts on a virtual tour with a fabulous twist. Sydney drag queen Verushka Darling will take you by the bejewelled hand (virtually, of course) and lead you on a tour for the times – socially distanced, but close to your ‘art’.

Verushka shall bring a quaran-tastic perspective to the artworks in the Grand Courts and Modern Australian Galleries. This playful and authoritative matriarch of the Sydney drag scene has gained a reputation in the art world for her gallery tours of the past four years at Queer Art After Hours, AGNSW’s annual Mardi Gras arts party.

This virtual tour is part of AGNSW’s Together in Art project, an uplifting online series which aims to provide meaning with art during the gallery’s temporary closure. You can tune in at 8pm on Wednesday, May 20, on either AGNSW’s Facebook live or YouTube channels for a half-hour journey as Verushka unlocks the secrets of the collections.

Follow Verushka Darling on Instagram to stay abreast of her salacious stories, orchid care tips, and unsolicited banana bread baking advice.

Like this? You might be into UNSW Galleries’ online queer culture exhibition. Need more queens (and kings) in your life? We rounded up the drag stars performing in isolation, and where to find them.
