Time Out says

A new free roam virtual reality experience is now open in Alexandria’s most advanced entertainment hub

It all started with Hijinx Hotel, the world’s first challenge room venue. Next came the ever-popular Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq, a funhouse of retro games, eight-lane bowling alley and laser tag, and Australia’s largest indoor putt-putt arena, Holey Moley. Now, Funlab’s dynamic entertainment precinct in Alexandria welcomes its latest sensation, Zero Latency.

For those who haven’t experienced the thrill of this free roam virtual reality immersion, here’s the lowdown. Unlike VR arcades, which require players to stay hooked to a computer via a cable in a space not much bigger than a changing room cubicle, Zero Latency allows players to roam freely through sprawling virtual domains within a 200-metre-square arena (the size of a warehouse). It’s just you, your untethered headset, funky goggles and your body as the controller.

You can battle up to eight of your mates at a time with eight 30-minute multi-player games to pick from. Work with your squad to fight killer robots in Singularity, enter your team in a post-apocalyptic game show in Undead Arena, fight for survival against zombies in Outbreak, or journey through an ancient and puzzling alien world in Engineerium. You don’t need to be a gaming guru to take part, but we strongly suggest bringing your best game face.

After dabbling in another reality, you can keep the good times rolling by heading next door to one of the other incredible entertainment venues. Swing by Holey Moley for a quick nine-hole game of mini golf, get topsy-turvy in one of Hijinx Hotels 15 challenge rooms, or play old-school games like Pac-Man and Space Invaders at Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq. It’s hard to fit any more fun under one roof!

Tickets to Zero Latency are the best value at $39 per adult from Monday to Thursday, or $59 from Friday to Sunday. You can find out more and book a session online here.
