Time Out says

Grab a torch and head to South Eveleigh for this fiery celebration of music, performance and the theatre of food

Flamethrowers, Indigenous dance groups and intriguing dark beverages. That’s what you’ll find if you venture down to South Eveleigh’s Innovation Plaza and Locomotive Street on Thursday, June 22 or Friday, June 23. It’s all part of Dark Day Night, a free-entry festival designed to ignite your senses for two exclusive nights only.

Whether you’re craving tours, tunes, sips or bites by the fire, there’ll be something to warm you up at this fiery festival presented by South Eveleigh and supported by the City of Sydney.

Start your journey with some Dark Day Night tastings from artisanal suppliers including Wildflower, Yulli’s Brews, Archie Rose Distilling Co. and Forty Spotted Gin. Tastings start from $2, while full pours start from $8. Feeling like a snack? Why not sample a handful of local eats in Innovation Plaza. Bites from Firepop, Pepper Seeds, Fishbowl and Boutique Thai will all be on offer.

As the sun sets, join a tour of Eveleigh Works, Australia’s oldest working blacksmith. When you’re done, watch the engine of the locomotive come to life in Innovation Plaza.

If a full spread is in order, the Dark Day Night Feasts will leave you satisfied. Embark on a multi-culinary journey of South Eveleigh with many of the restaurants along Locomotive Street offering exclusive specials across the two nights. Each venue has their own special style, but specials from Coyoacán Social, Kürtõsh, Re, RaRa Chan, BrewDog South Eveleigh and more will be celebrating all things dark and decadent.

Kylie Kwong, South Eveleigh’s ambassador for food, culture and community is also hosting an exclusive dining experience at Lucky Kwong for $55 per person, showcasing edible native plants grown just 50 metres from the eatery.

Cap of your night with some tunes and cultural performances on the mainstage. We’re talking performances from the Andy Golledge Band, Mowgli May and Kaleidoscope Dream and appearances from heaps of other local musicians.
