Preston Market has long been known as one of the most prolific market precincts in Melbourne's north, serving the ever-growing and diverse community for more than 50 years.
And to celebrate all things Italian, the market will be throwing a one-day festival on Sunday, August 27, with a jam-packed line-up of activities, tastings and entertainment fit for bambinos and nonnas alike.
The fiesta will feature live entertainment from Italian musicians Lorenzo and Co, traditional dancing by the Melbourne School of Tarantella, and tunes by DJ Motobella, who will be spinning the decks on a 1968 Vespa. Plus, there will be family-friendly activities like face painting and miniature train rides.
Of course, there will be plenty of delicious food to enjoy, with pop-up Italian stalls Abruzzo Lab, Il Panzerotto and Panino Mio serving up everything from pizza and paninis to panzerotti and arancini. You can also watch ex-MasterChef contestant Amir Manoly as he shares his Italian cooking skills and dishes out some free samples for the crowd.
Preston Market’s Italian Day will run from 10am-3pm on Sunday, August 27. Entry is free.
