Entries have just opened for the Hong Kong International Poster Triennial 2017. A major event of Hong Kong Heritage Museum and the Hong Kong Designers Association, next year marks the sixth iteration of this event since it was first launched in 2001, in its aim to establish Hong Kong as a global hub of poster design, as well as its collection and promotion.

The theme for the upcoming comptition is ‘Touch’, and will be conducted in accordance with the regulations and guidelines of the International Council of Design (ico-D). Designs can be organised under four different categories: Ideology, Promotion of Cultural Events, Commercial and Advertising, and Thematic - Touching. Assessment will be based on originality, creativity and technical skill, and hopefuls will be subject to the judgment of an international panel of five internationally renowned designers from Europe and Asia. Gold, silver and bronze will be selected in each of the categories, as well as individual Judges’ Awards. All selected entries will be published in the exhibition catalogue and featured in the 2017 exhibition, to be held at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum.

Open to designers of all levels and countries, the competition invites creative minds to explore the theme of ‘Touch’ with different interpretations and from different perspectives – cultural, social, physical, psychological – and through the lens of a number of different artistic styles. Applications open on 1 August, and close at 5pm (Hong Kong time) on 31 October. For any enquiries, check out lcsd.gov.hk/hkipt2017, or email triennial@lcsd.gov.hk.
