With many of us Hongkongers rooted firmly in our city’s concrete jungle, it’s easy to forget what a rich variety of wildlife surrounds us, despite the fact that 3/4 of our SAR is classified as ‘countryside’. To help remind us, the World Wildlife Fund has published a brilliant new illustration detailing the astounding biodiversity existing of our SAR. From azure winged magpies to our famous white dolphins, it’s all there. Click here to see the full version in all its glory.

And if this illustration whets your appetite for discovering more about local wildlife, why not take a look at our lists of Hong Kong’s deadliest animals and top 10 species of spider. Or, for something less frightening, there’s always our city’s most famous animals.
