Beauty & The Beast
Olivier Houeix

An intellectual interpretation of the iconic neoclassical ballet for Le French May.

Choreographer Thierry Malandain has looked to Jean Cocteau's 1946 film adaptation for his own stage interpretation of the iconic romance story. Here, Tchaikovsky's Beauty & The Beast is imagined as a rite of passage, aimed at resolving the duality of humanity, namely the soul and its relationship with instincts. The fairytale is brought to life though an elegant and fluent performance.
