Summer season might be over, but there’s still plenty to explore! Cyclists will have a new six-hour adventure to embark on this Autumn, thanks to the recent unveiling of the New Territories Cycle Network.
Built upon existing tracks, this 60km-long journey stretches across Tuen Mun and Ma On Shan and most notably encompasses locations such as Yuen Long, Sheung Shui, Fan Ling, Tai Po, and Sha Tin. Travellers who wish to challenge this absolute monster of a cycling route can look forward to an eyeful of refreshing seaside views and lush greenery along the track. Additionally, those who are looking to challenge themselves further will also be pleased to learn about the extra-22-km section between Tsuen Wan’s Tsing Tsuen Bridge and Bayview Garden, which is scheduled to open in early 2021. We’ll definitely be marking our diaries!
The Hong Kong Development Bureau will also provide everything from bicycle rentals, parking spaces, first aid stations, toilets, and refreshment kiosks along the cycling track with their implementation of new ‘cycling hubs’, where visitors can experience a safe and comfortable biking expedition whilst exploring everything the New Territories has to offer. The track is set to open around mid-September, but no official date has been announced yet – so stay tuned! Adrian Ho
