Are you always zoning out when the boss is talking? Find yourself having to re-read the same sentence over and over again? Daydreaming more often than not? If you answered yes to all three, you have all the qualities to go far in the International Space-out Competition taking place on March 31.

Following a successful run in places like mainland China, the Netherlands and Taiwan, the sixth edition of this competition is coming to Hong Kong (at the AIA Vitality Park to be exact) for the first time. Our SAR is one of the most wired and stressful cities in the world – no thanks to our long working hours and hectic lifestyle – and the organisers decided to hold the competition here in Hong Kong with the aim of promoting the importance of mental health.

So, what does it take to win the competition? Some 80 participants are tasked with sitting in silence for 90 minutes without talking, sleeping, laughing and checking any electronic devices, even watches. The person measured to have the most stable heart rate is crowned the winner. It’s not all about spacing out, though, the event also features a variety of activities and performances with details yet to be announced.

Entries will be accepted later this month, so make sure to follow the official Facebook page for the latest updates!
