Black Bear Burger
The current holder of the Burger of the Year award for its sensational Miso Bacon Burger, London mini-chain Black Bear has taken inspiration from Le Relais de Venise for its limited-edition National Burger Day creation, which features 40-day aged beef, smoked bacon and onions slathered with rich, herby and buttery Cafe de Paris sauce like the steak served at the viral west London restaurant. Sample either burger as part of a £20 burger, fries and beer offer available for one day only at Black Bear’s Brixton, Camden, Westfield and Exmouth Market locations.

Honest Burgers
With 30 branches around London, you’re never too far away from one of Honest’s glorious medium-rare burgers and an accompanying mound of hand-cut rosemary salt fries. One thousand lucky customers will be able to nab one for free this National Burger Day. Just sign up to the chain’s loyalty app, make sure you tick the box to allow marketing emails and then be on the lookout for an email on the day. Even if you don’t win a freebie, you’ll still be able to claim 20 percent off any burger.

Bleeker Burger
Another London venue doing sensational stuff in field of meat-n-bread, Bleeker will be serving up a fiery special across all eight of its locations; inspired by one of the trademark specimens served up at LA favourite Easy Street Burger, the Jalapeño Monster features a beef patty, melted Swiss cheese, onions and extra house sauce and generous pile of fresh jalapeño slices. You can also get 20% off any burger on the menu for one day only by signing up to Bleeker’s mailing list here.

Shake Shack
Fancy treating your bestie to a meal out? Shake Shack is the place to be this National Burger Day. The American fast food icon is doing a buy one get one free offer for every burger on its menu for one day only. Simply sign up for a QR code here, and head down to any of the twelve branches around London to claim your offer, which covers its classic menu items, brekkie burgers and limited edition Korean-inspired offerings.

Burger & Lobster
Fancy something a bit different to a bog-standard beef patty? At Burger & Lobster’s ten London restaurants you can opt for lobster, short rib or premium Wagyu instead. The surf-n-turf-loving chain has no fewer than six National Burger Day specials on the menu, including the Lobster Royale featuring buttermilk-fried lobster tail, a Short Rib Burger that comes slathered in barbecue sauce, and the Wagyu smash with two lacy, crispy smashed patties and all the classic trimmings. You might want to take an early lunch on Thursday too, because the first 25 burgers sold at each branch on National Burger Day will come with an ice cold free pint of Noam’s crisp Bavarian lager.

Limited-edition menus for National Burger Day
As well as the aforementioned discounts and freebies, there are plenty more great burger joints offering limited-edition menu items in celebration of National Burger Day. Head to Burger and Beyond to sample a special made from Galician Blond & Wagyu aged beef with aioli, rehydrated onions, pickles and double American cheese in a demi brioche seeded bun (available Aug 21-26), stop by MeatLiquor or Bloodsports to try the Black Palace featuring two ex-dairy herd smashed patties, caramelised onion, pickles, ketchup and mustard in a sesame bun (Aug 21 only) or Turkish burger restaurant Zula for the Thai Honey Burger with ginger, coriander and lime mayonnaise and Dr Sting’s Hot Honey (available Aug 21-31).
