From the fashion-obsessed archival collectors, to eco-conscious bods searching for a retro look, London has got a vintage shop for everyone. I would know, because I regularly spend my weekends rummaging for the perfect pre-loved ballet flat, or digging through second-hand bins with the hope of finding a Miu Miu slip skirt for a bargain.
Londoners are renowned for their style, and eagle-eyed shoppers from around the world flock to the likes of Brick Lane, Soho and Notting Hill to hunt for vintage threads. There are loads of of reasons to forego new garms in favour of second-hand clothes. They’re more affordable (sometimes), way more eco-friendly and, finally, you’re far less likely to turn up at the pub wearing the same Zara jacket as the person on the next table. The downside? Rummaging through the rails can require real patience. Still, if you just stick to the best places, you’ll be alright.
