The Making of Harry Potter tour is one of London’s great unique experiences. Here, we preview the special features and latest tour news for 2018
You should never let go of something good, which is why, when work on the eight films in the epic Harry Potter series came to an end, Warner Bros. decided to turn a huge part of the studios they’d been filmed at into something which took fans on a new journey. As a result, The Making of Harry Potter tour at Warner Bros. Studio Tour has become a hugely popular attraction since it opened in 2012.
With real sets from the films still intact (including the Great Hall and Hagrid’s hut, Platform 9¾ and the Forbidden Forest), The Making of Harry Potter is an experience that takes Potterphiles big and small behind the scenes.
Most of the tech side of the filmmaking happened here too, so as part of the experience, visitors can see how characters were developed for the big screen from JK Rowling’s original story, including costume design and prosthetics. The tour reveals how the Wizarding World came magically to life thanks to the latest special effects, and you can even have a go at riding a broomstick, doing battle armed with a wand or boarding the Hogwarts Express. When you’re done, how about a Butterbeer?
Throughout 2018 there are lots of exciting new additions to the tour and special events to book, so whether you’ve been before or you’re a Hogwarts ‘first year’, there’s always something new to see and do.
You can find all the latest news about the tour right here, starting with our ten must-see highlights at The Making of Harry Potter (we could have made it 200 highlights, but there just wasn’t space), plus a focus on the first major new feature for 2018: Warner Bros.
