It's that time of the year when every social outing somehow seems to involve pie, hot chocolate and pumpkin everything. So how about another decadent dessert to add to your rotation?
For the next three Saturdays, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams and Mr. Holmes Bakehouse are combining forces to produce ice cream and pastry duos that'll make you forget about any pumpkin pie looming in the horizon. Jeni's, which has already developed a neighborhood cult following in Los Feliz, is parking their truck outside of Mr. Holmes Bakehouse in Highland Park and offering ice cream and pastry pairings each Saturday, starting on November 19 from 9am to 4pm. This weekend you'll be able to snag a Hong Kong milk tea donut with wildberry lavender ice cream, a churro croissant with churro ice cream and a fruit Danish with lemon buttermilk frozen yogurt.
Not feeling any of the combos? You can purchase any pastry from inside the bakery and then pair it with any flavor available from the Jeni's truck. Pints are also available to take home.
In addition to this Saturday, Jeni's will also be parked outside Mr. Holmes on November 26 and December 3. The bakery opened to much fanfare in early October, with lines forming around the block each weekend as the smell of Mr. Holmes' famed cruffin wafts towards the masses. Our advice? Get there early, load up on baked goods before hitting the Jeni's truck, and revel in your haul all weekend long.
